Short Animation

In this animation, I had to fix the end to make make the blob look like it was like some type of gummy worm, lol.  This was a very helpful animation exercise and you should practice to create these types of animations.  This was great fun and not too hard for s beginner to accomplish.  This short animation, however, has a small glitch at the end on the blog here, but it is smooth in the Ibis Paint X app (free software) that I used to create it.

This is the short animation that I didn't pay attention to the end, and it looks more unnatural.   I have to remember that the whole animation is very important from beginning to end.

Cartoon Practice

I have been keeping busy, just not posting here.  I will begin posting some of my artwork again so you can see the progress through time.  I do mainly digital art from time to time.  Check back for updates.  I'm not sure if I will keep a posting schedule or not.

While painting this digitally,  I followed some art rules.  First I created a box on layer 1, then I lowered the opacity and redrew the line art, then on another layer just below the line art layer, I colored in the character.  Add some shading and highlights and you'll have yourself a nice painting.   Make sure you keep the shadow layer and the highlights layer on separate layers as well.

I hope you achieve your goals, and it doesn't have to be in art.  Stay with it and you will improve your skills at anything.

Thanks for stopping by.

Restaurant Ordeal Comic Page

This is the latest in my artwork journey to improve my artwork.  This little one page comic has its flaws, but it was fun and not too demanding for me since I have been practicing for a bit now.  It's been many months so I relaxed for a while.  It's good to take some time away for a little while, but it's easy to not go back to it also.  Just like any hobby or thing you want to learn to do, staying with it can be challenging.   Everyone has other obligations, such as a job or other demands that compete for your time.  I think most of us go through that.  Keep practicing until you reach your goals.  You can fo it.  I'm still in practice mode.  Your whole life you should keep practicing what you want to learn.  They are good brain activities.  The thing with comics, art, or many things today, there is a lot of what society is pushing onto artists these days.  Having art as a hobby can help get you away from the worlds problems,  evern if for just a few hours.

Leaning New Ways To Paint

I am learning new ways to do digital painting.  This took me less time and looks better.  I did this by simply using the round brush and the airbrush.  This is such a nice way to paint fun and rewarding pictures.  Anyone can do this, it takes a little skill, but not as much as you might think.

I'm learning how to create short snippets of comics.  This came as I was reading some other short comics as well.  This style allows me to learn without putting too much on my plate, so-to-speak, lol.  Let me know what you think and do you create comics?

Sleuthing Steven

Biblical Finds

This book will be about how two kids find gems in the Bible.  Their sleuthing skills get better and better as they look for more and more gems.  It is an adventurous story about how two siblings, a brother and a sister decide to go on an adventure to see if the Bible is true.  They find out more than they bargained for when they decide to get serious about the Bible.  This book when finished will be available for purchase on Amazon KDP.  In the meantime don't stop sleuthing the scriptures to see what gems they have to offer.  You will be pleasantly surprised.

This book is for 9 -14 years old.  Feel free to get a copy for your boy or girl on Amazon KDP.

My First Comic Book

Hey fellow artists and comic book fans.  I have a comic book coming out soon.  In this one I didn't do all the artwork, some but very little.  Mostly, I am using free stuff.  I wanted to put together a book on Amazon KDP to get a good start on creating comic books.  I will be creating more comic books but will do all of the artwork myself as I improve my art style.  I realize now that I must be making them (all the time) to improve, instead of taking the easy way out.  It's a good lesson in self discipline.  Not just try to improve my writing skills.  I need to do that to though.  This is a fun comic book that will have a few different comic stories.  A good, clean and fun comic book for anyone who loves this style of comics.  I am also doing webcomics to put onto one of the webcomics websites.  Webtoons and Tapas are the ones I am considering.  This is one of the new adventures I will be taking as well.  We will see how it goes.  I have my reservations.

Space cookie is one of the short stories in the comic book.  It takes place in...you guessed it, space.  A small two man crew goes into space with a mission that will prove to be fun and a little dangerous.  They both learn in the end that home is where the heart is.  There is also another story named "Mary the Tomboy and Al. Mary likes a boy that she knows but hasn't seen in a while except now he is at the bus stop.  I'll let you know when it is published.

Let me know what kind of webcomics you like.  Leave a comment below so I can read them.  I like to know what others are interested in and what type of comics are popular.  I can focus my time and energy on those as long as they are clean content, which for me, it has to be.

My Baseball Guy

I am posting my practice digital paintings so that everyone can see my progress in my art as I get back into it after a long hiatus.  This is my baseball guy (because he looks like he could be a baseball player) digital painting.  Art has been a passion for a long time, but with life events getting in the way I sort of just dropped it all for a while.  I also have other things that I consider hobbies and just let slip through my fingers.  So now I am active online posting my newest art adventures.  Learning how to paint digitally is difficult to say the least when you have to learn an art software that you have never seen before, lol.  Now I know more about it and am having a better artistic experience.  I also use Medibang which I thought would not be as good as Krita.  Medibang has features that Krita doesn't have and vice versa.

I am having fun seeing how they both can contribute to my art experiences and helping me gain skills in digital art.  I always did art the traditional way before when I had time for it.  Digital brings more to the table for me since the programs have free versions, loving that.  It allows me to learn and when it is more affordable I can get a paid version to enhance my experience.  The online world moves at a fast pace and for that I am glad so I can take advantage of it every step of the way.

What is your art experience?  what are the types of art that you like most?  These kind of questions made me think deeply about how art can contribute to society.  I like fine art but now I am getting more into comics as a way to learn a different form of art, meaning that I must always reach deeper inside of myself to not give up again.  I am choosing something new and that is difficult but I really want to stick with it this time.  There are so many demands on our time these days.

The way that I believe my art can contribute to society is by creating clean content and art.  There is not enough of this in our society and children are growing up learning the most inappropriate things for their ages by having access to online sites.  Good thing there is such a thing as parental controls on our devices.  I hope parents are using them.

Getting back to the topic of art, I just really want to show that art can be fun and clean at the same time.  Even Disney has become very questionable.  In my opinion, as a believer in the scriptures, I don't think kids should be exposed to it.   Every parent must decide and they don't have it easy.  This is part of why I am pursuing art in a comic format.  I want to do animation, however, my art skills need great improvement for that.  Everyone gets better over time.

Let me know in the comments section how your art journey is coming along.  Till next time and thanks for reading.

Mia and Mama

MIA AND MAMA!

This is a comic that I have started and will be finishing as soon as I can.  Once it is done, I will be putting the rest online for everyone to read.  I have to write the story and I believe it will be an ongoing story if it starts out good.  I am not sure yet, though.  Always check back to see if it is finished.  I will be updating comics every week and uploading them to the WebComic Posts page.

I can't wait to see where this all goes.  I'm having fun in the process.  I thought comics wouldn't be my area of expertise but everyone can improve, so that is what I am going for.  For a long time I liked landscape art and portraits.  This is new and I mean really new, but comics has something that digital art doesn't.  It's still digital art, however, it requires more so I will learn more in the end.  Creating characters, stories and making it all flow is not easy.  I also like animation, but thought I would try this and it should improve my animating skills also.  Since I have been creating comics, I haven't been wanting to animate...not so far anyway.  But I'm sure I will also do some light animation along the way as I dabble in the world of art.  Art is a very big world with many opportunities.  With comics, digital fine art, commercial art, etc. and digital programs such as Krita, there is so much more we can do as artists, and of course keeping it clean.

So at the end of the day, I believe that anyone who seems to be gifted or not can learn something and succeed at their dreams.  Is it hard work?  Absolutely!  It is well worth it also.  No one can give you the satisfaction of improving your skills at something.  That comes with hard work and time, but you can do it.

UPDATE To The Story;

Mam Mia (lol), I won't be uploading any more of this comic because I won't be finishing it as Krita can be difficult sometimes.  I can't keep it on my computer anymore because of the many glitches it has, unfortunately.  If it was easier to use I would definitely think about finishing this, since that is what I planned on anyway.  Look around at the other posts we have.  There are other pages to check out as well.  Enjoy.

Fish Painting Tutorial (What I Learned)

Hey, hey, hey.  This is one tutorial on YouTube that I had fun learning from as I followed along.  In the tutorial I did line drawing which wasn't too steady but I now have turned on the stabilizer on Krita so that my line art looks better.  Still, all-in-all I was using a mouse to do all the artwork in this one.  Line art is the most important part to get right, then everything else just falls into place.  It's the foundation to build on.

This was a very fun tutorial that I followed because I like under the water and the colors are nice and contrast well.  That's another thing in painting, you need to learn contrasting colors, complimentary colors etc,  and how colors show up better against each other, bringing out more color in the finished picture.

There is something called a color wheel.  It helps to be able to see the colors on the wheel.  Colors opposite each other are complimentary colors.  Primary colors are red, yellow and blue and secondary colors are orange, green and purple.  Its good to know how colors look together.  Go into a paint store and pick up a paint color chart and you will see what colors look the best together.  This will help you get used to the colors that work the best together.  I love color and don't like things to look drab.  Everyone has their own favorite colors and I am no exception.
